Spain’s white coast, commonly known as the Costa Blanca, is so-called because of its sweeping white sands and abundant sunshine. This area was one of Europe’s first package holiday destinations and today remains one of Spain’s most popular holiday regions.
The range of accommodation on the Costa Blanca means you can find the ideal place to stay, whether you want all-inclusive Costa Blanca hotels or are aiming to find cheap Costa Blanca hotels to use as a base for exploring the region - or for going out every night to party and every day to the beach.
Benidorm is Costa Blanca’s biggest, brashest resort and has a huge range of large hotels, restaurants serving up food from all over the globe and nightlife that is nothing short of legendary. Whatever you want to eat, to buy or to do, this larger-than-life resort has it all. There’s even mile after mile of long, sandy beaches.
Alicante is another sizeable resort, yet it retains far more Spanish charm and character than its bolder, bigger neighbour, thanks to its castle on the hilltop and smart, independent shops. Valencia, meanwhile, is being touted by many as a destination to rival Barcelona and it’s true that this city offers ultra-modern architecture plus an interactive museum and an oceanarium and planetarium. This innovative city makes a great base for exploring the entire region or a worthwhile day trip as a change from the coastal resorts.
There are plenty of places, away from the dazzling white sands, to explore if you head inland a little. Denia has a thriving market, an old castle and its eateries serve up some authentically Spanish dishes too. The lofty, rather spectacular Algar waterfalls make a great day out, and there’s also the village of Guadalest up in the mountains or the settlement of Elche, which is nestled among palm groves. Head back to the coast via orange orchards and rocky hills, and you’ll find Altea, which is still at heart a Spanish fishing village.
Whatever sort of Costa Blanca hotels appeal, there are plenty of options when it comes to places to stay on the Costa Blanca. You could even mix it up by combining a few nights in space-age Valencia with a stay at one of the luxury Costa Blanca hotels in Alicante or Benidorm.
