Bali Hotels

There’s no doubt that Bali deserves to be described as a tropical paradise, but that’s not all this Indonesian island has going for it. Holidays here offer great value for money, as in Bali, the hotels and restaurants are very competitively priced. From hectic Kuta and exclusive Nusa Dua to laid-back Ubud, Bali can offer visitors a holiday in the most picturesque of settings, with your troubles a world away.

Kuta is the largest resort on the island and it’s here, along with adjoining Legian, that you’ll find the widest range of accommodation. Many of the cheap hotels in Bali are found in the backstreets, often located in the lanes and alleys leading straight to Kuta’s legendary beach.

There’s no denying that Kuta is a busy resort, yet the beach is magnificent. The golden sands, lively surfing scene and spectacular sunsets here certainly ensure Kuta’s enduring appeal. If you want to be within easy reach of all this, yet based somewhere a little less frenetic, nearby Sanur can be a good option, while neighbouring Legian does tend to be a little quieter than Kuta. The exclusive enclave of Nusa Dua isn’t too far from any of these either, and is home to some of the most sophisticated and stylish 5-star hotels in Bali.

If you fancy something a bit different to beach life, head north and inland to Ubud. This town has been known for a long time as art central, and as well as galleries, museums and markets, it is also home to the monkey forest sanctuary. In more recent times, it has earned a well-deserved reputation for its fabulous, upmarket Balinese-style spas that offer every kind of luxurious treatment under the sun, usually using traditional, gloriously scented, locally sourced ingredients.

Another highlight of any holiday in Bali is the food. Indonesian cuisine is not particularly well-known in comparison to other South East Asian cuisines, yet it is almost always very affordable, utterly delicious, satisfying and a little spicy. The larger hotels and resorts have a great range of international cuisines to choose from too, if your tastes are more conservative or you simply fancy a change. Don’t leave without sampling fried rice Balinese style served complete with a freshly fried egg perched on top.
